Awareness for cyber space Week-10 Situation in Turkey Turkey has been exposed to many cyber attacks in the country and abroad in recent years. Anonymous, an international hacking group, has carried out attacks especially on public web pages in Turkey. The attacks generally occurred as a denial of service (DDos: Distributed Denial of Service). While these attacks contain political tendencies, they prevent the use of various citizenship services and cause disruptions in the daily life of individuals. There are attacks against both the private sector and the public, and the services of institutions are interrupted. In attacks on banks, electronic commerce systems are damaged, individuals cannot shop over the internet and POS devices of stores become inoperable. Again, on March 31, 2015, there was a long-term power outage in Turkey and the reason for the interruption has not been fully clarified yet. This situation strengthens the possibility that the interruption occurred as a result...

IT professional in my country Week-8 IT profession in Turkey In my opinion, no matter how popular and important the IT profession in Turkey has gained in the last 20 years, there is a shortage in the IT sector, as it is mostly based on theory in terms of teaching. I believe that the quality of education is one of the most important factors in the development of IT. As a result, most countries, especially European countries such as Estonia, believe in the IT sector, also offer a lot of opportunities to young people not only in theory but also in practice, and we have a lot to learn from it.

The quirks of online communication Week-7 Don't abuse your power Every single individual in the universe of cyberspace is different in terms of power stages. Some might be very powerful by far. However, even if one is one of the strongest in terms of power, it never gives the right to take advantage of others in any kind. The clear example would be for instance, the system administrators should never read the private messages/emails of the individuals. In conclusion, every person no matter what power they have got in the cyberspace, must have their own privacy which strictly should not be violated by others.

Copyleft Week-6 What is a copyleft? Well, to start, in principle, we wouldn't be wrong to say that copyleft is the complete opposite of the term "copyright". If any license has a copyleft term, that usually indicates that it is free to copy, distribute and modify. In other words, it can be said that it is an open-source licensing. There are two types of the copyleft licenses; strong and weak. Strong copyleft is meant that even a tiny bit of the code in a program is yours, this would simply imply that the whole program/software must be issued under your name too. While in weak copyleft, if a software contains some of your code then only certain parts of the license has to be published under your name. And other parts would be licensed under other people who contributed the software, since the software as a whole is the combination and modification of their codes.

The case for copyright reform Week-5 To begin with, the second chapter of this article also covers the main idea which is copyright and the necessary changes which has to applied, in order to avoid to the inconveniences that have arisen. The author's thoughts are generally that there is a necessity for imposing restrictions on the duration and form of protection rights of the copyright holder especially the reason for the need for these protection restrictions are that copyright owner might somehow become unavailable after a certain period of time, and this in short, makes it almost impossible to reach the original product. In my opinion, the main message that the author is trying to convey is to make it as easy as possible for the non-copyrighted people to access the originals of the products.

Information Society Week-4 To start with, I want to mention the author Pekka Himanen. When I looked up about him, I got to know that he was the youngest person in Finland ever to obtain a PhD degree in the age of 20. He is a philosopher who is minored in computer science. He has completed a research work in world's leading universities such as University of Oxford, Stanford University, University of California and University of Berkeley. In this research work, he has indicated how our planet is already advanced in terms of technology and it is currently in the process of improving itself very rapidly. But while the change in the technology occurs, society must keep up with it, and always act in an up-to-date mentality. Specifically, he discusses models which are related to relevant issues and some which still exist in nowadays' world. They were "Silicon Valley", "Singapore" and "European" models. I believe the author tries to create the image that...
