Week-4

To start with, I want to mention the author Pekka Himanen. When I looked up about him, I got to know that he was the youngest person in Finland ever to obtain a PhD degree in the age of 20. He is a philosopher who is minored in computer science. He has completed a research work in world's leading universities such as University of Oxford, Stanford University, University of California and University of Berkeley.

In this research work, he has indicated how our planet is already advanced in terms of technology and it is currently in the process of improving itself very rapidly. But while the change in the technology occurs, society must keep up with it, and always act in an up-to-date mentality.

Specifically, he discusses models which are related to relevant issues and some which still exist in nowadays' world. They were "Silicon Valley", "Singapore" and "European" models.

I believe the author tries to create the image that everyone get exactly what they deserve to have, in terms of skills, knowledge, power, creativity and will to learn. Therefore in a world based on meritocracy, people don't receive their salaries based on their family status, connections/network, appearance but rather according to skills that they have. It is also possible that everybody can accomplish a success in their own field of expertise.
